Challenge Word Paragraphs:  Write one paragraph with each challenge spelling word.  The topic sentence should include the Challenge Word.  Then, try to include other spelling words from 1-20.  After the five challenge word paragraphs, if there are any left over spelling words, please write a sentence for each.

On a separate sheet of paper, students must rewrite each sentence with an introductory phrase.

Tuesday, December 6th

On a separate sheet of paper, students must use introductory phrases within each sentence as they rewrite the sentence.  For example: Each day at school, Mr. Garrett teaches the students.

Monday, December 5th

Spelling Paragraphs: We are trying out a new assignment with our spelling words.  The students are to take one of the challenge words and use it in a topic sentence.  Then, they must use other spelling words (not challenge words) to complete the rest of the paragraph.  For example, if I take the challenge word "finally" and use it to start my paragraph the finished result will be:

1. We finally were able to go on a field 

trip with our class.  I knew our teacher 

would let us but we only have a few days until it 

happens. I can't wait until we get off the bus 

and begin our field trip.
